Application of magnetic fluids in the treatment of external intramural fistulas.

The authors have systematized experimental and theoretical data with the aim to evaluate the applicability of the obturation method in the treatment of external intramural fistulas by magnetic fluid confined by a permanent magnet. The results of laboratory and clinic experiments demonstrate the efficiency of a new method and its advantages over conventional methods of the treatment of intramural fistula. Theoretical calculations of the shape of magnetic fluid drops and parameters of dissipation fields of permanent magnets of different configuration have indicated that a quantitative approach can be used for design and optimization of magneto-liquid obturation systems.
